Tooth Extraction In Grand Island, NE

At Cottonwood Dental, we understand that the idea of losing a tooth can be daunting. If you're in need of tooth extraction, whether due to unexpected dental pain or a long-standing issue, we’re here to provide expert care, reassurance, and guidance throughout the entire process.

Understanding When Extraction Is Necessary

Dr. Brown carefully considers your unique situation before recommending tooth extraction. We believe in preserving natural teeth whenever possible, but there are circumstances where extraction is the best choice for your oral health and comfort. Reasons for tooth extraction include:

  • Irreparable tooth decay that has destroyed significant tooth structure
  • Advanced gum disease that has loosened one or more teeth
  • Wisdom teeth causing pain or crowding of surrounding teeth
  • Preparation for dental implants to restore a fully functional smile
  • Removing root-canaled teeth based on the patient's preference

Determining if Extraction Is the Right Step

Dr. Brown considers your patient history and uses the latest imaging technology to assess the condition of your teeth and overall oral health. During our evaluation, we ensure you're informed about the reasons behind our recommendation and how this step fits within the broader context of your overall health. We dedicate time to discussing the findings so you understand the need for extraction and ensure you feel informed and confident in your treatment choice.

Benefits of Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) and Photobiomodulation (PBM) in Tooth Extraction

After a tooth extraction Dr. Brown offers photobiomodlation (PBM) along with Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and ozone tx to prevent cavitations from forming. This is an advanced healing substance derived from your blood. At Cottonwood Dental, we use this substance to promote healing at extraction sites.

During the PRF process, a small amount of your blood is drawn and processed to isolate the fibrin. When applied to the extraction site, PRF is a bioactive “band-aid” that stimulates tissue and bone regeneration, promotes faster healing, and reduces infection risk. PRF is particularly beneficial when preparing the site for a future dental implant.

Your Comfort Is Our Priority

We prioritize your comfort and understand the anxiety associated with dental procedures. Our team is here to support you, answer your questions, and address your concerns. We'll administer a strong local anesthetic to ensure the treatment area is numb and you won't feel any pain. If you need extra help to relax, we also offer nitrous oxide or laughing gas to help you remain calm and comfortable.

Caring for Your Smile Post-Extraction

Proper post-procedure care is critical to a smooth recovery with no complications. We provide clear, step-by-step guidance on how to care for your mouth post-extraction, including:

  • Gently bite on a gauze pad to reduce bleeding.
  • Avoid smoking or using a straw to prevent dislodging the blood clot.
  • Manage pain with prescribed or over-the-counter pain relievers.
  • Eat soft foods and gradually reintroduce more solid foods as healing progresses.
  • Maintain oral hygiene by brushing carefully and rinsing with warm salt water.

Once you're ready to discuss tooth replacement, Dr. Brown will help you explore your options and find a solution tailored to your needs.

Little to no pain.

Dr. Brown was fantastic as usual. Pulled a tooth and prepped to get an implant. Little to no pain. The staff was very pleasant and competent as well. Even major dental work doesn’t need to be painful and scary. Thank you for taking care of me!

Tooth Extraction Technology

3-D Cone Beam Imaging (CBCT)

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) offers a three-dimensional view that captures detailed images of your teeth, jawbone, nerve paths, and soft tissues in a single scan. Visualizing these details is essential for dental implant placement, tooth orientation and bone structure evaluation, and diagnosis of hidden or complex dental issues.

With the level of detail obtained from CBCT scans, Dr. Brown can better diagnose and address your treatment needs and perform minimally invasive surgeries more precisely. CBCT technology aligns with Cottonwood Dental’s commitment to providing detailed, accurate dental care that supports overall health and wellness.
